Finding Your Dharma

It's taken me almost 58 years and I'm still trying to figure out what I will be when I grow up. I suspect I'm not the only one that feels this way. I've been a doctor for most of my life and I've been a mother and wife. I've tested the waters of academics and business and

not laid low enough. I've been depressed and happy, had cancer and health. I've been fortunate to have had many experiences with great people in wonderful places.

One thing I know is I love. I love my husband, my children, my family, my friends, my patients and the people of the earth. In fact, I love the earth and want humanity to continue to enjoy it.

But it not just us I love. I also love the animals and the plants and the flowers and the trees, the beaches, the mountains and the oceans.

So, I don't know what's next-I guess I never will.

But for now, this year and next, my dharma is to walk and try to bring people together.

To experience the earth and make a case to protect people. To make sure we realize how we are playing with fire and need to stop and think-to slow down, breathe and appreciate the amazing world we live on. We need to plan to take care of each other now, and in the future and help each other live our lives to the fullest.

And for me, starting on summer solstice 2019, that means walking, experiencing how hard or easy it is to walk to Key West from Canada and learning from places and people along the way. I'm especially concerned now about extreme weather disasters and how people with disabilities can be helped, so I look to learning and loving and moving towards a brighter future. I'd love to meet you along the way.
